Missouri social workers have a license renewal every two (2) years from initial licensing with a deadline of September 30th. When renewing a license, thirty (30) board-approved continuing education hours are required. Of the 30 hours, fifteen (15) hours of continuing education is allowed for home study or self study as approved by the Association of Social Work Boards, or the American Psychological Association. Three hours of ethics presented by a social worker is also required.
The main purpose of continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the social worker profession. All licensed Missouri social workers are required to participate in ongoing educational experiences that will add to knowledge and proficiency gained from prior education activities.
Professional Development Resources is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards and the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for social workers. Professional Development Resources assumes all responsibility for programs and content. Missouri social workers can earn up to 15 continuing education hours through online course work at http://www.pdresources.org.
