Continuing Education and License Renewals for Vermont Social Workers

vermont social workers continuing education and license renewalsSocial workers licensed in the state of Vermont have a license renewal every two years with a January 31st deadline, even years. Twenty (20) hours of continuing education are required in order to renew a license. Out of the twenty hours, five (5) hours are allowed from home study if ASWB approved. Fifteen hours must be formal (live), and 1.5 hours in ethics for social work practice are required at each renewal.

Continuing education offers the top possible standards for the social work profession. All licensed social workers are required to complete continuing education as a condition of licensing.

Professional Development Resources is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) http://www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. Professional Development Resources maintains responsibility for all programs. ASWB Approval Period: 6/12/2000 – 6/12/2016. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Professional Development Resources is also approved by the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (Provider #BAP346); by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Approval #PCE1625); by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board (Provider #RCST100501); and by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (#5678).
