Social workers licensed in the state of Vermont have a license renewal every two years with a January 31st deadline, even years. Twenty (20) hours of continuing education are required in order to renew a license. Out of the twenty hours, five (5) hours are allowed from home study if ASWB approved. Fifteen hours must be formal (live), and 1.5 hours in ethics for social work practice are required at each renewal.

Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits.
