Licensed Utah mental health counselors have a license renewal with a September 30th deadline every two years, even years. To renew a license, forty (40) continuing education hours is required. Ten (10) hours of continuing education is allowed for home study, and six hours of ethics/law is required.
One of the main goals of continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the mental health counseling profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational activities that build upon existing competence and knowledge obtained from prior educational experiences.
